“The Databank software has made it much easier for us as an advocacy organization to accomplish our mission and goals to better protect Texas children, especially in regards to our advocacy and outreach efforts. It has allowed us to engage our advocates in a much more effective and simplistic manner – which has resulted in a more active membership, advocate, and donor network. thedatabank has allowed us to dramatically reduce the amount of time we spend compiling, merging, and managing multiple spreadsheets and databases that were previously used in our fundraising and advocacy efforts.” – Sophie Phillips, TexProtects COO & Research Director
TexProtects, The Texas Association for the Protection of Children, is a Dallas-based agency whose mission is to reduce and prevent child abuse and neglect through research, education, and advocacy. TexProtects prides itself in its ability to mobilize advocates across Texas to speak out about child protection.
Child abuse and neglect continues to affect an overwhelming amount of children in the U.S. every year. In 2010, the federally funded Maternal Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program was established. This program, designed to prevent maltreatment of children, provides the opportunity for new mothers and families with young children to be visited in their homes by a nurse, social worker or other trained professional to help them acquire strong parenting skills and reduce stress and risk factors. The MIECHV program was scheduled to close in March of 2015 but with the collaborative effort of TexProtects, Pew Charitable Trusts, and several other national partners, they were able to create an advocacy campaign that convinced Congress to extend the program for an additional 2 years, allowing for thousands more families to receive the services they need to increase overall child and family well-being.
As a client of thedatabank, TexProtects used their PowerMail feature to reach over 8000 supporters in Texas while simultaneously utilizing the Advocacy Action tool to allow those advocates to directly reach out to Texas’ Congressmen.
Sophie Phillips, COO and Research Director at TexProtects, described TexProtects previous CRM system as being difficult to interface with, time consuming, and failing to offer features that allowed for customization and meaningful data analysis. “Prior to Databank, we did not have one system that captured all of our fundraising information in one place. The fact that we can track and monitor different campaigns in one system and pull reports based on a variety of indicators and descriptions has been very meaningful.”
