Melissa has held a variety of positions since joining thedatabank in 2006. She started off as a Marketing Intern and moved her way up to Marketing Manager over the next few years. In 2014 she switched to the part-time role of Administrative Manager in order to spend more time at home with her young kids. She is enjoying the best of both worlds.

Get to know Melissa a little better:

Why is working at a social impact-based company important to you?

It’s always felt right to me for my job to serve a greater purpose than just using my skills and earning me money. I’ve worked for thedatabank since I graduated from college and I cannot imagine working for a company where I would not be fulfilled in that way.  The positive impact that our clients make with the use of their Databanks is inspiring to see. The company culture is a perfect fit for me because I enjoy being around others who are also interested in social impact.

If you could have dinner with anyone, past or present, who would it be?

Barack Obama! Ever since he started his presidential campaign, I’ve always thought he would be such a fun and insightful person to know. His life journey of humble beginnings to becoming the President is such an amazing, unique story and I know he would make a great dinner date.

How do you spend your free time – when you have it?

With two small children, my “free” time is pretty limited these days, but spending time with them is something I wouldn’t trade for the world! When I do get some moments to myself, I like to blog, go out to eat, shop, and get out and enjoy the (preferably warm) weather.

What’s on your playlist while you’re at work?

I love everything from top 40 to country to indie. I also love listening to Christmas music way before it’s socially acceptable! 🙂
