I was not one of those kids who bemoaned the end of summer. I had my pencils sharpened by the first of August, ready to go back to school. Does that make me a nerd? What about taking a class in early 20th century political literature, just for fun?
These days, with so many demands on my time and money, I can no longer afford to sign up for just anything that I'm curious about. Like you, I usually have to choose educational opportunities that are immediately relevant, and don't require a large time commitment.
Next Thursday, September 24th, thedatabank will host the first in a series of free, one-hour educational webinars. Whether you have an acute problem to solve, or a general case of intellectual curiosity, I hope you will find something valuable in this series.
Our first presenter, Tom Tarnow, will talk about his experience integrating email and web sites with direct mail at Habitat for Humanity. I think you will appreciate Tom's honesty about the mistakes they made while learning how to do it. And you'll be impressed by the diligent way he has measured results and used that information to improve fundraising. If you use the Databank, Tom's presentation will give you some ideas for taking advantage of your database that integrates online and offline contact lists and communications.
Don't worry, there's no final exam. And I promise not to bring up Kafka.
